I would like to devote this post to the Masseria Salinola in Ostuni, where I had lunch a few weeks ago. Close to the wonderful sea of upper Salento, the farmhouse is surrounded by greenery and tranquillity.
The masseria was a salt warehouse in 1700 and has been restored respecting the principles of a traditional Apulian farmhouse. Some antique pieces taken from country life have been given new and original uses, creating a romantic and refined atmosphere.
The restaurant is really characteristic: it has been established in the space that was once the home of animals and agricultural storage. Every detail inside recalls the rural life.
The typical Apulian dishes I tasted at the Masseria Salinola were excellent: the hot and cold starters were many and wonderful, the traditional "strascinate" homemade pasta with artichokes, bacon and fresh cherry tomatoes was delicious, and the mixed grilled meat was very tasty. It is obvious the attention paid to the use of genuine ingredients, many of which come from the farm itself.

Nosing around the outdoor spaces of Masseria Salinola, I noticed that there are also rooms and holiday apartments for families, as well as a good-sized swimming pool, ideal for a relaxing and healthy holiday. I really think that I'll go back…
